Diagnosis of Intelligent Reflecting Surface in Millimeter-Wave Communication Systems

Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) is a promising technology for enhancing wireless communication systems. It adaptively configures massive passive elements to control channel in desirable way. Due hardware characteristics and deploying environments, an IRS may be subject element blockages failures, hence developing diagnostic techniques of great significance system monitoring maintenance. In this paper, we develop systems locate faulty retrieve failure parameters. Three cases state information (CSI) availability are considered. the first case where full CSI available, compressed sensing based technique proposed, which significantly reduces required number measurements. second only partial jointly exploit sparsity millimeter-wave failure, adopt sparse low-rank matrix recovery algorithm decouple failure. third no novel atomic norm introduced as sparsity-inducing cascaded channel, diagnosis problem formulated joint problem. Finally, proposed validated through numerical simulations.
